Through its Transport Services, ECHO Community Service can take clients to:
- medical and specialists appointments
- shopping – either personalised one on one or shopping bus
- social appointments
- group outings
Our trained volunteers offer a personal service and will escort the client into and out of appointments. We currently run shopping bus services each week to nearby shopping malls. The volunteers will assist clients to take their shopping inside when they arrive home. One-on-one shopping services are usually carried out by a support worker.
If you need a transport booking:
- Please make the request with at least 2 days’ notice before the journey.
- It is helpful to give 1 week’s notice when it is around the date of a public holiday
CHSP (Commonwealth Home Support Programme) clients:
CHSP clients are advised to contact the office on 9271 7011 from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 12.30pm to access transport services. Email requests can also be sent to transport@echocommunity.org.au
HCP (Home Care Package) clients:
Clients are now eligible to use the Taxi User Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) for transport services via ECHO. This service is being made available through Black & White Cabs for those HCP clients seeking additional transport options to those currently provided by ECHO’s volunteer drivers. To find out how you can start using this service, please speak with your client advisor who can explain how the service will work, including the use of cab vouchers and payment.
