There are two National Disability Insurance Scheme trial sites operating in Perth – one in the northern suburbs operating on the Federal model, and one in the southern suburbs which is an alternative State / Federal model. The preferred model will be agreed upon by 30th June, 2017. They have been running for a couple of years or so but as at 1st January, 2017, the City of Bayswater will been included in the northern suburbs trial site catchment area.
This means that clients who are under the age of 65 and receive HACC services are likely to transfer to the NDIS scheme, and receive services through NDIS funding. Quite how this will happen is still being worked on, but it is ECHO’s intention to ensure continuity of care for existing clients by continuing to provide services but under a different funding mechanism.
