Once again I’m asking friends, colleagues and people I barely know to support me to raise some money and generally to raise awareness for people who are homeless. This is the one and only time during the year that I ask people to help me to raise money for charity but I do so because this one is close to my heart.
This will be my 4th year at the CEO’s St Vincent de Paul’s sleep out. You may not know about this but it’s a national event where CEOs from all walks of life / organisations / circumstances spend a night outside in a sleeping bag on a piece of cardboard. It’s not that comfortable but the way I figure it is that I have so much and I can afford to give up just one night to help people who have nothing. More than 105,000 Australians are homelessness every night across Australia, with 17,000 of them being children under the age of 12.
All money raised on the night goes straight to providing services for those who are homeless.
If you can donate something, then great. If you can’t donate but can pass on the message to people you know then that’s great too. If you can do both – well done, that’s fantastic.
Thanks for reading this. Making a difference is a good thing.
