ECHO provides care to the elderly and those living with disability, to enable them to live in their own homes with dignity while still maintaining their independence.
Like many elderly Australians, Linda wants to continue living at home. She loves lawn bowls, visiting her daughter and grandchildren (who live in close proximity), and her local community.
Linda doesn’t want things to change and she wants to continue to live at home, but lately she’s found tasks that were once simple are becoming more difficult. Linda struggles to complete basic chores like washing and vacuuming and is finding the heat of the Perth summers are becoming less and less bearable.
Linda survives on the Age Pension and cannot afford the costs associated with a carer. Her daughter works full-time and is unable to provide any financial support.
Whilst government support and services are available to our elderly community the wait to obtain support can often take months. Without services like ours, people like Linda are left to struggle while they wait on the government to provide support.
