History

ECHO Community Services started in 1982 when a group of Volunteers identified a need in the community. They could see that people who were getting older were struggling to stay in their homes because their large gardens were getting too big for them to manage. With the support of what is now the City of Bayswater, they set about providing a gardening and minor home maintenance services to these elderly residents. In many ways this was the precursor to the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program and their vision was ahead of its time.

These days, ECHO provides a range of home care services through the HACC program and through Home Care Packages to around 1,500 people who live in the City of Bayswater and parts of the City of Stirling. We remain a small organisation committed to helping people in our local community.

ECHO continues to be supported by our Volunteers and those who have been with us a long time still remember the early years. ECHO would not be the organisation it is today without the ongoing dedication of our Volunteers and they remain as creative and committed to our clients as those pioneers were when they started the organisation over 30 years ago.
